An Excerpt from Remember Me...
He laughed humorlessly. “If there
is one thing I have remembered from my previous life is that it is not a good
idea to piss off your father. If we’re going to do this, I want his blessing
this time.”
I
dropped my head on his chest, “He will never give it.”
He
pulled me away from him so he could look down into my face, “I know but I won’t
have it any other way Julietta. I don’t want to have to spend my life always
looking over my shoulder and what about my family? Do you honestly think your
father wouldn’t retaliate against them?”
He
was right. I knew he was and it left a bottomless pit of despair to settle in
my gut. “Is this goodbye then?” I asked.
He
lifted my face by my chin and kissed me softly, “As much as it pains me it has
to be.”
I
watched him walk away and again my heart shattered into a million tiny pieces.
I sank down against the wall and let the tears fall.
What a lovely and heartbreaking excerpt. I would love to be considered for one of the 20 copies, please. michelle_willms at yahoo dot com.
